In tropical forest communities, interspecific competition and recruitment limitation by dispersal are two general mecanisms of tree species coexistence. Their role in regeneration remains poorly known, even though it is essential to understand them to better adress the gestion of exploited forests. In this work, environemental conditions and intraspecific relations were taken into account in the analysis of juvenile distribution. Fifteen species were retained according to a gradient of shade-tolerance and various seed dispersal modes.
