A report of various aspects of pisciculture in Poland is presented. The different types of production are discussed: production of larvae for restocking ponds or hatcheries; and fish production on intensive and extensive scales. The techniques used are described. An economic analysis of the industry shows that the possibility of increasing natural production is limited. To meet the demand for carp it will be necessary to intensify production using imported protein
