Spectrum and network of artistic dance schools in Prague between the wars

The bachelor thesis gives an overview of the creation and activities of dance schools teaching expressive dance and classical ballet between the first and the Second World War. I continue my works in graduate and semester works. In the first part, I study the available materials about teaching, methodology. The second part deals with the geographical location of the school headquarters in Prague and it’s possible movements over the time. The third part deals with administrative aspects of teaching, the frequency of the hours, the filing of applications, the tuition and the age range of pupils in schools. I also deal with school performances in public, the performances of pupils in theater productions, the performance of schools on afternoon tea sittings, club and social events. In conclusion, I deal with the exhibition Dancing in Czechoslovakian Art and Photography in Manes and the accompanying dance evenings where the schools were presented. The aim of the thesis is to get a more complete look at the establishment and functioning of these schools in the given period
