Theoretical part of this paper generally discusses adjectives, the graduation of adjectives and the absolute superlatives in Spanish and Czech. The theoretical part of this work is based on the language theories of the Spanish Royal Academy and the Spanish and Czech linguists who are devoted to this topic. The aim of this work is to outline the use of the absolute superlative in Spanish and to present possible variants of its translation into Czech, because in the Czech language system the absolute superlative is absent. The absolute superlative was analyzed in this work by using data in the Corpes XXI, single-lane corpus, and in the InterCorp, parallel corpus.
