Biographical novel in the contemporary Czech literature (Close reading of novels The History of light and The Poet)

The thesis focuses on two novels - A History of Light and The Poet - published in years 2013 and 2014. Using Franz K. Stanzel's typology of narrative situations the analysis of narrative modes forms the basis of the thesis. The objects of the analysis are: the person, the mode and the narrative perspective. With a regard to the narrator of A History of Light the du-form comes to the fore and creates interpretation tensions. In The Poet the narrator's outer perspective emerges as the crucial narrative component. Thus, the reader is enabled to see the life story of the protagonist with the benefit of hindsight
