Causa Kajínek: the media reflection. From reality to the film processing.

This master thesis, entitled Causa Kajínek: media reflection. From reality to movie interpretation deals with the life story of murderer Jiří Kajínek, who was sentenced to life imprisonment. He served his punishment for the murder of an entrepreneur and his bodyguard from Plzeň, which took place in 1993. Kajínek was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1998. His case was then turned into the subject of a movie. The Czech movie called Kajínek, directed by Petr Jákl junior, premiered in cinemas in 2010. The master thesis focuses on this movie and examines published reviews from the Czech press and professional journals. The thesis also analyses the media presentation of the whole case, with special emphasis on the years 1993 (when the murders were committed), 1998 (the life imprisonment sentence for Kajínek) and 2000 (Kajínek's jailbreak from Mírov prison and subsequent capture). The aim of the thesis is to present conclusions about this case, which is still the subject of controversy and polemics about Kajínek's guilt or innocence
