Symptoms, Causes and Overcoming Burnout among Teaching Staff

This thesis deals with burnout among teaching staff, its symptoms, causes and possibilities of overcoming. The theoretical part describes the teaching profes- sion and shows its strenuousness. It also focuses on the personality of teachers and their ethical principles. It describes the required core competencies of tea- chers and, equally important, the need for professional self-realization, which, if fulfilled, can help prevent burnout. The author analyzes the symptomatology of burnout syndrome, its causes, risk factors, stages and ways of prevention. The practical part examines the main factors influencing teachers' professional fulfillment, their place on an imaginary scale of personal preferences, and if the teachers perceived them negatively or positively. It also tries to determine whether there is a link between the professional and personal satisfaction of teachers as a possible prevention of burnout
