The war in 1812 is sometimes referred to as the Second War of Independence. This war was overshadowed by the Napoleonic Wars. The war was caused as a result of restrictions of the American trades. Another cause of this conflict was the tension on the border between Canada and the United States. The Americans accused the British to support the Indians in their attacks on US settlements. If the United States could bear the partial trade restrictions until the end of the Napoleonic wars, the war would never have occurred. The war lasted three years and had no winners or losers.
