Cumulation of meteorological extremes by an example of 1983 summer

The hereby presented thesis focuses on the evaluation of extreme meteorological events and its causes in the CR during the summer months of 1983. Each of the events was evaluated based on the extremity, time of duration and impacts. Furthermore, the atmospheric circulations and synoptic-dynamic causes were evaluated. The exceptional deficit of precipitation was identified in the beginning of summer 1983 which was enhanced by several heat waves during July. In August the enormous decrease in daily temperatures was associated with the Mediterranean cyclone, which caused heavy rains in the area of Bohemia. In Moravia however the precipitation deficit was prolonged, resulting in the first signs of drought. According to the measurements of the Prague-Klementinum station, the month of July 1983 was the fourth driest month during the period of 1850-2004 and on 27. 7. 1983 there was a historical maximum set when the Prague-Uhříněves station recorded the highest Tmax of 40,2 řC. Shortly after these events, the drop of daily temperatures by 16,5řC between August 1st and 4th was accompanied by the third highest five days long precipitation event ever recorded in the CR between 1960 and 2010.
