The impact of the local attendance of Czech political parties on the results of general election

1 Abstract The aim of this Master thesis is to analyze and find out whether and eventually in what way the attendance of the selected political parties on the local level influence their results in elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic which are crucial in terms of the function of the Czech Republic itself. The theoretical background of the thesis contains the typology, formation and development of political parties that are followed by the development of the party system of the Czech Republic. The practical part of the thesis is structured into four main chapters. In the first part of the research, the power of the relation between elections to the Chamber of Deputies and to the municipal councils is analyzed. This is followed by the core part of the submitted thesis that aims to find out whether and consequently to what extent the local attendance of the selected political parties influences the success of these parties in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies, particularly in comparison with other variables that are significant for the explanation of the voting behavior of the Czech society.
