Making use of opinion polls in Czech media

The main subject of this work is informing of media about public opinion polls concerning politics. It defines main types of polls and differences between them. It also defines the most common mistakes in the interpretation of these polls. These mistakes are caused by the lack of knowledge about special sociologic methods and terms. The main cause is monitoring media. These work uses quantitative and qualitative analysis. The chosen media are daily titles Právo, Mladá fronta DNES and Hospodářské noviny. The monitored period is from the 1st September to the 21st October of 2013. This period covers two months before Chamber of Deputies elections. The qualitative analysis deals with mistakes in concrete articles. The quantitative analysis reveals main trends. The last part deals with the role of polls in media and their ability to predict results
