Author's book in the works of Petr Nikl and Petr Sís and its media response

The thesis deals with the media reception of selected works by Peter Sis and Petr Nikl within the Czech and the American media. It is the books The Three Golden Keys and The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain by Peter Sis and the books Záhádky and Linguistic Fairy Stories by Petr Nikl. A secondary concern was given on the media image of the Czech authors' books and the literary awards that are awarded in the Czech republic, such as Magnesia Litera or the Golden Ribbon. A qualitative analysis was used on the articles which were obtained through the Newton databases in the case of the Czech media. In case of the American media the articles were obtained through Google and the EBSCO and JSTOR databases. One of the surprising findings was that there was more focus put on the selected topic within the regular daily newspapers and the mainstream media, rather than within serials that are mainly focused on literature and culture. Also the hypothesis was confirmed that an author's success in the area of literary awards leads to an increase in the intensity of media reception
