The metabolic syndrome is a complex of diseases, which can be referred to lifestyle diseases. It is particularly an arterial hypertension, specific dyslipidemia (increased triglycerides and reduced HDL- cholesterol), abnormal glucose metabolism (insulin resistance, prediabetes and diabetes mellitus 2. type) and obesity with abdominal fat placement.
