The bachelor thesis deals with the analytical evaluation of the critical reaction to Skvorecky's novel The Cowards in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century. These two decades have been specific by its political and social atmosphere. Characteristics of the 50s and 60s are different and therefore different specificities of the two decades are reflected in the critical reactions. In the first part the author focuses on the creation of a theoretical framework, which is then used as the basis for the analysis of reviews.
