Prestige, Self-Conception and Problems of Teacher's Profession

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe the specifics, prestige and self-conception of the teacher's profession. The study is divided into two major parts. The theoretical part describes important characteristics and requirements of the teacher's profession. It also presents difficulties of teaching that covers uncertainty of success based on the specific teacher-pupil relation and the contradiction of teacher's roles caused by various expectations. The next issue is to analyse teachers' self-conception that covers the lack of self-confidence. The thesis reveals some of the reasons of low self-esteem. It is focused on the different perception of prestige by teachers and the public. The empirical part of this study is based on the questionnaire survey conducted among the teachers
