Virgin Mary in the Holy Quran

Bachelor thesis Virgin Mary in the Holy Qur'an: Analysis of Marian Qur'anic Verses and their Parallels to the New Testament Biblical and Apocryphal Texts focuses on the character of Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, who enjoys high respect both in Christian's churches and Muslim tradition. With the help of few commentaries from Muslim theologians, it analyzes verses relating to mother of Jesus in the Holy Book of Islam, which is the basis of Islamic faith and also the Muslim point of view on human, world and the human fate in the world. Then the thesis finds parallels to the Qur'anic depiction of the character of Virgin Mary and her story in the New Testament biblical (especially The Gospel According to Luke) and apocryphal (mainly the tradition of Protoevangelium of James and The Gospel of Pseudo- Matthew) texts. However, in the Qur'an, there are also themes that have no parallels to Christian texts and so they present a specific emphasis of the Holy Book of Islam. This thesis serves Qur'anic view on the character of Virgin Mary and her story and shows parallels of some motives to the early Christian texts
