The subject of this Bachelor thesis is an annotated translation of an original German text into Czech. The translated text includes the first two chapters from a book by Hermann Haken and Maria Haken-Krell called Gehirn und Verhalten. Unser Kopf arbeitet anders, als wir denken. The thesis is composed of two parts, of the translation and a commentary. The commentary includes a translation oriented analysis of the original text, the concept and methods of translation and a typology of translation problems and their solutions on different textual levels, followed by a typology of translation shifts. The commentary is based on translation textbooks by Ch. Nord, J. Levý, D. Knittlová and A. Popovič
