This thesis deals with mathematical modelling of the fuel consumption of a vehicle going on the route described by its elevation profile. It contains fundamentals of vehicle longitudinal dynamics which are essential for creating the model. The main goal of this thesis is to minimize the fuel consumption on given route using heuristic algorithms, hence a description of used heuristic algorithms and results of their implementation in MATLAB are presented
