Title of the thesis: Syllable Segmentation of French as Perceived by Czech Speakers Keywords: Phonetics, Phonology, Syllable, Syllable Segmentation, French, Czech Abstract: The study entitled Syllable Segmentation of French as Perceived by Czech Speakers, is concerned with the difference of syllable segmentation in French and in Czech. The aim of the thesis is to find out to what degree the Czech speaker's ability to segment syllables in French is influenced by his mother tongue. To answer this question various methodologic procedures are employed: observation, then comparison of Czech and French theory books which allow forming the hypothesis.
