Protagonists in selected novels by Rómulo Gallegos: Doña Bárbara and La trepadora

Title of the Bachelor's Thesis: Protagonists in selected novels by Rómulo Gallegos: Doña Bárbara and La Trepadora Abstract: The object of this thesis is to provide a complex analysis of the main characters from two novels by important Venezuelan writer Rómulo Gallegos: doňa Bárbara from the novel Doňa Bárbara and Hilariao Guanipa from La trepadora. This thesis combines work of other authors into a new theoretical scheme of character analysis, including mimetic and semiotic approach and it studies their placement in the structure of the novel. After a short presentation of those novels the scheme of character analysis is applied on each character. It studies its characterization in text, its existence in story, the relation to other components of the novel, its function in "siujet" and classifies the character by diferent tipologies.
