Selection and usage of dirty words bias scholars in the 8th grade of elementary school

Vulgarity is a very important socio -psychological - communication phenomenon, affecting life of many people. However there are only three research papers in the Czech Republic concerning this topic. Lately, vulgarity has often been mentioned in connection with children and adolescents. Therefore the aim of this paper was to map current verbal vulgarity of adolescents, with the focus on students of the eighth grade of elementary school. This work deals mainly with frequency of using sampled vulgarism, differences of using vulgarism depending on circumstances, the intensity of vulgarity, which students attribute to sampled vulgarism. At the same time the research paper tried to find differences in using "bad words" by boys and girls. Research findings proved the differences in using vulgarism depending on the circumstances in which the students act. At the same time there are differences in using vulgarism between males and females. The research also revealed that the usage of vulgarism is more affected by schoolmates and friends than by the size of the city where the children live. The aim of this paper was to tackle the problem of vulgarism usage by adolescents, to map the basic "bad words" which are being used by the students of the eight grade.
