Name Collectivization of agriculture in the village of Horská Kamenice Abstract This thesis follows the collectivization of agriculture in a mountain village of Horská Kamenice in Železný Brod region (Jablonec nad Nisou district, formerly Semily district). A microhistorical approach is used to observe the progress of the process of collectivization of local small and medium-sized farmers in the village from 1949 to the founding of the United agricultural cooperative in 1957, including the evolution of agitators' persuasion techniques and the course of recruitment campaigns. The thesis then proceeds to analyse the first steps of the newly established United agricultural society leading from the changeover from private production to common farming and the course of the Agricultural society's first economic year - 1957/1958. In addition, an individual biogram is processed for each farmer farming agricultural land whose acreage exceeded 2 hectares (30 farms altogether). Besides showing the historic events the thesis also strives to involve the human dimension and to show that people are not merely passive entities pushed around by the events around them, but on the contrary, they are peculiar personalities who assume their own attitudes to various stimuli and react to them subjectively.
