Landscape fragmentation and its connectivity conservation by ecological networks in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals eith the evaluation of landscape fragmentation, its causes, consequences and possible solutions in Europe and the Czech Republic. The study compares various quantitative methods of determining the level of fragmentation (Landscape Division Index, Effective Mesh Size, etc.). It further evaluates the situation in the Czech Republic on the basis of analysis the fragmentation of transport projects and built-up areas. The study also investigates the issue of landscape protection with the use of ecological networks. The results of fragmentation analysis are compared with the current state of ecological networks and systems of protected areas (USES, NATURA 2000, etc.)
