This thesis focuses on the depiction of journalists in Hollywood films from the 70s to the present, with special focus on investigative journalism. In the first part, the author deals with the question of why investigative journalism is attractive as a subject for film, and defines the specific attributes of investigative journalism, that are suitable for film stories, whether fictional or based on authentic events. In the second part, the author focuses on film genres in which the journalistic profession is portrayed with a special focus on investigative journalism and political thrillers.
