Mathematics in Homeschooling: Educational Style of Families Abstract The dissertation thesis focuses on homeschooling. Its primary goal is to describe phenomena related to the educational style of families. The phenomena are connected to the context of mathematics. The second goal is to propose a theoretical framework which could be used for further research in the field of homeschooling. The methodology is qualitative, based on the questionnaires of 30 families and the author's personal experience. As the Czech pedagogical terminology is highly connected to school education, a new terminology is proposed. The concept educational setting explains the high diversity of homeschooling families. It is affected by the law, curricular documents, and social values on the macro-level. The relationship of a family with the school and the supporting group influences the form of homeschooling in relation to the situation of each family. The educational style is influenced by both the child's and parents' beliefs within and attitudes to the educational area (in this case, mathematics). Another important phenomenon is the length of homeschooling experience in families. The educational style described in the thesis is called a semi-structured one.
