The oboe solo in Smetana's Blaník in the context of the 19th century pastoral musical motifs

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to point to the tradition of pastoral in the 19th century symphonic music with the use of the oboe or english horn as the instruments with a special characteristic to this color. As a principal specimen of this kind of music to this thesis was chosen the oboe solo of Smetana's Blaník symphonic poem. In connection with this symphonic poem all the so far known analysis of this piece have been recapitulated with the addition of a proposal to the new possible approach to such an analysis of this piece and all this was laid out to two individual chapters. Through the next specimens of 19 th century pastoral music, among which have been selected parts of Beethoven's, Rossini's, Berlioz's or Wagner's pieces is given evidence of the another compositional approaches to this topos of the 19th century European symphonic music
