The Sociological Aspects of Theatre: Society on the Stage

The aim of this bachelor work is to make a plea of a theatre as relevant sociological topic. Based on the referenced problems of sociology of art concerning its inhomogenity of the focused object, author deduces that sociology of theatre is needed discipline. Author also focuses on the reasons of the stand-still and marginalisation of sociology of theatre. The theatre as multivalued and transient had been very long time difficult to analyse, therefore she also names present systematic and critical approaches of the text and performance analysis. Also she devotes a part of the text to the issue of the interpretation of drama content and its communication to the audience, because theatre performance is primarily expressed message intended to the audience. In this context she opens speculation over a genesis of a dramatist's work and autonomy of an artistic production. With three sociological concepts of Michel Foucault, Karl Marx and Pierre Bourdieu author draws the possibility of sociological use of the drama content as a secondary social information. The summary is devoted to the findings of the social conditionality of the theatre and its sociological relevancy
