This bachelor work is concearning in a conceptional and in an architectural resolution of Roman gardens during the Roman period. The attention is paid to literary and archaeological sources, frescoes and mosaics and to gardening traditions, which help come close to understand Roman gardens in consideration of individual influences, which had participated in the garden forming. The development of gardens in Italy and in the Roman provinces and gardens insertion to the residential complexes are shortly cleared. Thereinafter are every single garden type, architectural features in garden design and garden sculpture analyzed.
