Bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of Christianity in India. The principal aim of the paper is to provide a basic knowledge about this phenomenon to the reader. It contains historical outline which search for characteristic historical shifts considered to have significant impact on the state of Christianity in India today. The second part of the paper focuses on the relationship between Christiantity and indian society with special regard to problems which led to the emergence of communal tensions. The last part of the work is concerned with the manifestation of popular Christianity in India
