The main goal of my thesis is to analyze the influence and impact of the Falklands War on the domestic policy in Great Britain during the conflict and after the conflict. The main question is how much the Falklands War influenced the public opinion and if it was the major or minor reason why the Conservative party won the general elections for the House of Commons which was held in June 1983. To understand the chain of events and importance of the islands for both concerned countries (United Kingdom and Argentina) I describe the historical context of the Falklands dispute first.
