This master thesis is focused on the history of Prague's leading cinema The Bio Lucema and the same named palace, from 1909 to 1945 thus from the commencement of its operation to the nationalization after the World War II. It concentrates on the functioning of this establishment from the historical, programme and personnel standpoint. Simultaneously, it monitors its development and position in the context of the Czech cinematography from the first decade of the 20th century until the end of World War II. The main task of this work is to confirm the presumption that the Bio Lucema occupied the unique position among Prague and Czech cinemas and to disclose how this status was accomplished
