The role of lifelong learning in the practise of the nursing profession

The thesis has the theoretical and empirical character and is divided into eleven chapters. The first chapter explains the reasons for the selection of the topic. The second chapter is focused on the history of nursing and the origins of education of nurses until establishment of the nursing education system discussed in detail in the following chapter. The third chapter is divided into the parts focused on the education system in the world and in our country. In the individual subchapters is described the period from the establishment of the first nursing school in London in 1860 to the present. The fourth chapter characterizes individual forms of lifelong learning, as provided for in Act No. 96/2004 of the Collection of Laws of the Czech Republic. The fifth chapter lists the conditions for attainment of registration while exercising the nursing profession. The sixth chapter describes a professional organization and its position in the lifelong learning of nurses, and is followed by the summary of the theoretical part and the valid regulations in the seventh part.
