Changes in the countryside after 1989 - Široké Třebčice

This thesis deals with changes in the Czech countryside after 1989. Fall of the communist regime had an impact on further development of the Czechoslovak, later Czech, countryside. Široké Třebčice is a small village and the changes affected its life very specifically. The closed community and constrained opportunities forced local people to perceive the post communist era in a way that differed a lot from the view of people living in cities. Based on thein memories and narrations for elaboration on wich I used the oral history method, I tried to find a reflection of the new times in present-day life of Široké Třebčice. During my work I was constantly meeting with very hardly penetrable barrier of the local people's unwillingness to help. The longer I was dealing with them, the more I was finding out that thein attitudes towards the outsider word are as complicated as the ones towards thein own village
