The purpose of this thesis is a study on the scholarly works of a Czech historian Josef Polišenský, those dealing with a phenomenon of the White Mountain Battle and the so-called "Czech question". Josef Polišenský in his research views the White Mountain points at issue in a broad social and cultural context and reveals important diplomatic connections which led the Czech insurgents to the fateful battle that totally changed character of the Czech statehood, social relations and established three centuries of the rule of the House of Habsburg and a long-term predominance of the Catholic Church.
