Contexts of a community life in contemporary town

The community has changed in many ways while proceeding from traditional to modern society. It has transformed into new form, which can be called present or urban community. Urban community is a place with stronger solidarity in the world of individualism. It is the result of two forces. Firstly, the natural human need of belonging to any group; on the other hand partially impersonal relationships in contemporary town. The first chapter of the paper deals with the aspects of community phenomena in the work of traditional and also later sociologists. In the following part, the process of seeking one's own identity as one of the main principles of forming urban community is focused. The last part describes the manifestation of a community life in town
