Slovak Political Emigration on the Way to the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia: The Activity of the Christian Democratically Oriented Slovak Exiles

Diploma thesis Slovak Political Emigration on the Way to the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia: The Activity of the Christian Democratically Oriented Slovak Exiles deals with the political activity of the Slovaks living abroad, their relations to the common state of Slovaks and Czechs and their aspiration to influence this state as well as the coexistence of the above named nations. The thesis points out the autonomist tradition of the Slovak emigration (from the turn of the 19th and 20th century) and touches the main points of the Slovak life abroad and all the Slovak exile till the end of the World War II. It follows the main streams of the Slovak postwar political emigration, which were formed into three specific emigration waves in the 1945, 1948 and 1968 years. It focuses primarily on the development and the external and internal aspects of the Slovak exile after 1968. The main emphasis is given to the activities of the Christian democratically oriented Slovak exiles (mostly living in Europe, exiles of the year 1968 an later) approximately in 1989- 1993 and their program to establish the exile Slovak Christian democratic club (party), which turned out to take share in the formation of the homeland Christian democratic party and the transformation of the political and social life in Slovakia after November..
