Upbringing in childcare institutions - life chances

Diploma thesis "Upbringing in Childcare Institutions - Life Chances" deals with the sociological perspective of education and upbringing in childcare institutions. In the theoretical part, there is discussed the problem of socialization of individuals from specialized institutions, as well as their stigmatization or institutional environment from the perspective of the theory of total institutions. This work focuses on how education in specialised institutions allows development of their children's personalities, what help is offered to the children before leaving the facility (for their subsequent socialization in a new environment). The work is complemented by a historical overview of the legal definition of institutional childcare. The research part is intended to monitor the abovementioned sociological aspects of single orphanage facilities. The research is based on the responses of facilities staff, children who are about to leave the institutional and the children who have left this environment
