Using Literature in the Efl Teaching: The use of literature in the EFL classroom at the second stage of primary school and secondary school

The work deals with the issue of Using literature in the EFL classroom, particularly at the Czech primary and secondary schools. The aim of the thesis is to present theoretical background of literature teaching and to discuss the benefits that literature may bring into a foreign language classroom. On the basis of two surveys carried out at the second stage of primary schools and at secondary schools, it is described whether literature is implied in English lessons and what students' attitudes towards reading English texts are. The final part provides examples of activities that may be used as helpful source of inspiration for teachers who decide to include a literary text into their lesson
