The Presidential Five-Year Plan - in other words a presidential mandate whose length is set for five years - became part of the French constitution through the constitutional law of 2nd October 2000. The first three chapters of this work deal with the period preceding the presidential five-year plan: the history of presidential seven-year plan, first debates about changing the length of the mandate and functioning of French institutions before the five-year plan. The second part of this work concentrates on the presidential five-year plan itself and the questions of its "wedging" into the French political system. The final chapter focuses on a rather fresh revision of the constitution that took place in the years 2007-2008. The changes that...
