The purpose of the present thesis is to deal with the topíc of the Chinese descriptive particles of Mongolian affixes, used in the side-by-side literal translation of the Chi nese transcription of The Secret History of the Mongols. The work is presented in the form of a list of Mongolian affixes. Each entry is completed with the Chinese character used for transcribing the given affix, a very brief explanation of it, the Chinese character used as a descriptor, and examples of the use of every affix. On the basis of the analysis of the collected data, this paper surveys the frequency of occurrence of these descriptors in the interlinear Chi nese glosses, so as to give evidence on the Chinese glossarists' intention to provide relevant informat...
