Due to progress in informational and communication technologies, accessible long-distance traffic and a gradually globalizing world, the nature of the movement of migrants has lately been developing into its new stage. Migrants often take part in a transnational process that enables them to create and sustain multiple social ties to their country of origin as well as to new host countries. Their identities are frequently formed in relation to more than one national state.
