The cultural , political and economic relations of Europe and the Orient remain nowadays a top research priority. The fruit ful history of these relations is a key to understanding this, considering that many prejudices and preconceptions originate in historical experience - especially for Central Europe as it relates to its experience wi th the Ottoman empi re. The Oriental collect ions in the Czech Republic still lack a proper analysis, except for a few examples such as the National Museum or the National Gallery in Prague. These collections open a gate to the Islamic world and therefore deserve a systematized approach and a broader acceptance both in the general public and in the academic community
