Folklore in the Region of Jihlava - Vysočan: set of songs and dances of region Horacko

This thesis is to introduce the folklore in the region Horácko in a hitherto unknown way. Based on the archive files, the aim was to describe the formidable establishment of the folklore group 'Vysočan', its development and promotion in the field of folk dances and songs in the Czech Republic and abroad as well. I tried to explore information that is not available in common tourist brochures about folklore in the city of Jihlava and its surroundings. With this fact are connected the parts of this thesis describing various activities of the folklore group. For instance, 'Horácký bál', which I have introduced in this work and which also provides an extraordinary backstage insight, has been never described as well as 'Jihlavské folklorní léto'. Nevertheless, there would not have been any folklore, if there had not been typical folk costumes. There are several publications concerning this topic, but they are hard to find and what is more, sometimes we can find some misunderstanding information in them. Part of this thesis describing the folk costumes should bring records corresponding to reality and highlight some interesting notes taken from various scientific publications.
