This bachelor thesis deals with a problem of definition o f the term information and of the information science. Information science is related to the interpretation o f the information very closely. This paper shows the four main approaches to the subject o f information science. Those approaches are philosophical, computer, biologial and cybernetic. This allows to make an all-around image o f the range o f this subject and it also points out the need o f further specification of this field of study
