Old Age and Contemporary Society

Development of community can be understood from the level of care of seniors. This study is focused on questions concerning this problem. The questions how today's society is opened to older people, how seniors are concerned in everyday life of the society, which services and care are accessible to seniors in our society are studied. Gerontology, processes of aging and sicknesses connected with it are also mentioned. The main goal of the work is to present a new view on broad issue of growing old and old age in contemporary society. The study starts from The Czech National Program of Preparation for Old Age 2003-2007 and observes how i t is successful to carry out this program. Also further current problems connected with aging are studied
