Developing as a Teacher Educator in ScotlandThe Scottish paper also explores the role 'research' plays in the practice and development needs of teacher educators.“Enquiry and Research” is a key area of professional competency identified in the Career-Long Professional Learning Standards by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). Teacher educators in Scotland who are involved in supporting pedagogical practice are expected to be registered (or be eligible to be registered) with the GTCS and therefore they must continue to develop enquiry and research skills as part of their career-long learning. Drawing from data gathered from in-depth interviews with teacher educators in Higher Education in Scotland, and in contrast with the analysis of data from teacher educators in other contexts, this paper examines the opportunities for teacher educators to enhance their researcherly dispositions and identifies implications for developing as teacher educators
