Arterial injury with subsequent remodelling and predisposition to arterial stenosis and/or dilation are the hallmarks of Takayasu arteritis. The degree of arterial damage closely aligns with prognosis and therefore its prevention is the predominant aim of therapy. Non-invasive imaging has greatly improved our ability to identify the extent and severity of disease and to monitor its progress.
