Case Study, Embedding Research Impact round 2: Coventry University

Whilst Coventry University has been commended for their strategic approach to applied research, the long term impact that these collaborative projects have is severely undervalued. Higher Education Institutions put significant resource into winning applied research projects however, unless explicitly requested by the funder, identifying and monitoring the impact of a project is rarely addressed. With an increasing requirement to demonstrate research ‘value for money’, the sector acknowledges the identification of the benefits and impact of research is critical to enhance future research excellence and sustainability. The project has focused on the role of effective process and technology in identifying impact, by reviewing how existing research information systems within Coventry University can be modified to incorporate impact analysis
