This paper focuses on the motivations for team rather than solo venturing in a social entrepreneurship setting. It first contributes to the team entrepreneurship literature by focusing on the antecedents of entrepreneurial teams, which answers a call for a better understanding of their genesis. Second, this paper contributes to the social entrepreneurship literature by investigating its collective dimension. Even though social entrepreneurial projects appear to be mostly team-based, there is a dearth of research on social entrepreneurial teams. Third, it contributes to the research on motivation in entrepreneurship by examining why some individuals decide to venture in a team.status: publishe
