The paper deals with Ibn Sina's concept of tajriba. After having indicated how Ibn Sina understands this notion in his Book of demonstration, it concentrates on its practical application in the domain of pharmacology, more precisely in its use with regard to testing simple drugs. It is shown that Ibn Sina move into the direction of the contemporary notion of 'experiment', but, in the final analysis, does not really express it, hence remains inside the at his time prevailing classical scientific framework.status: publishe
